On this bike trip we carry with us all the packing on the bikes, in practical bike bags, sk. bike packing. A bike ride from Ljubljana to Pula via Muggia, Umag, Poreč and Rovinj is an adventurous and scenic tour that takes you through Slovenia's beautiful countryside and on along the Croatian Adriatic coast. This trip combines picturesque coastal towns, ancient villages and beautiful nature. **Please note that this is a group event. For practical reasons, as well as administrative, we conduct this experience only with 4 - 6 participants. ** Day 1: Ljubljana — Muggia (approx. 100 km) We begin in the lively and charming city of Ljubljana, where you can enjoy the green spaces of the city, the river and the old town. After leaving the city, we cycle south on Euro Velo 9 and move through rolling landscapes, fields and small villages. The bike tour goes through beautiful valleys and after a few hours we reach the Slovenian coast, where we begin to approach the small town of Muggia in Italy. This is the longest stage of the week. Muggia, located right on the border between Slovenia and Italy, is a picturesque small town with colorful houses, narrow streets and a nice harbor. The city is famous for its fish restaurants, so here might be a good idea to try some local delicacy. Exactly where we choose to find overnight lodging may vary. This is one of the effects of this experience being extra adventurous - we decide accommodation retrospectively and the respective traveller chooses accommodation according to their liking, taste and economy. Day 2: Muggia — Umag (approx. 74 km) From Muggia, take the bike further into Croatia, towards the charming coastal town of Umag. This stage runs along the coast and offers lovely views of the Adriatic Sea. You cycle through small villages and olive groves, where the landscape gradually becomes more typical of the Croatian coast. We cycle through amazing little resorts like Izola, Piran and Portoroz. Here we also cycle long distances on the interesting cycle path “Parenzana”, a disused narrow-gauge railway that between 1902 and 1935 formed an important trade route between Porec and Trieste. When we arrive at Umag, which is a popular destination for both tourists and sports enthusiasts (the city is famous for its tennis open), take a well-deserved break. Umag also has a nice old town with small streets and cafes on the waterfront. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the tranquil coastal atmosphere. Again, we opt for an adventurous approach regarding night lodging. Each of the residents determines the accommodation according to their liking, taste and economy. Day 3: Umag — Poreč (approx. 47 km) The third day takes you along the beautiful Istrian coast towards Poreč. On the way you will cycle through a landscape of olive groves and vineyards, where you will experience authentic, rural Istria. Along the coast you will also see beautiful, small bays and bathing beaches, ideal for a short break. When you reach Poreč, you will be greeted by the impressive Euphrasius Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Istria's most famous monuments. Poreč is a lively town with a charming old town, small shops and cafes. It's also a great place to sample Istrian gastronomy, including local olive oil and truffles. Night lodging as before. Day 4: Poreč — Rovinj (approx. 41 km) On the fourth day you cycle on towards the wonderful city of Rovinj, often described as one of the most beautiful places on the Adriatic Sea. This stage runs along one of Istria's most dramatic coastal areas, with towering cliffs and clear blue waters. On the way you will experience small bays and natural landscapes, where you can take a break and enjoy the sea views. Rovinj, located on a small peninsula, has an incredibly charming old town with narrow, winding streets, colorful houses and a vibrant Mediterranean atmosphere. Here you can take a walk up to St. Euphemia Church, whose bell tower offers a great view of the city and the sea. Rovinj is also known for its fish restaurants, so a dinner here with fresh seafood or a traditional Istrian dish is a perfect way to end the day. Night lodging as before. Day 5: Rovinj — Pula (approx. 47 km) The final leg of the journey heads towards Pula, one of Istria's most historic cities. You cycle through a landscape of vineyards and olive groves, and as you approach Pula you can begin to sense the historical significance of the city. Pula is famous for its Roman arena, the Pula Arena, which is one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. Here you can admire the impressive structure and imagine gladiator games and other ancient events. In addition to the Pula Arena, there are also several other historical monuments to discover, such as the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii. Pula also has a lively nightlife with many restaurants and bars by the sea, perfect for ending your bike ride with a good dinner. Summary This bike tour takes you through three countries and offers a delightful mix of scenic landscapes, charming coastal towns and historic sites. Experience Slovenia's green landscapes, Italy's coastal atmosphere in Muggia, and Croatia's Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere in cities such as Umag, Poreč, Rovinj and Pula. Each stage brings new impressions, and the end of the journey in Pula, with its Roman history and beautiful sea views, is a perfect end to this cycle journey.
